Unread Books on My Bookshelves | Book Discussion

Hello, book lovers! 💕

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s day weekend. Today I’m here to discuss the unread books that I have on my physical bookshelves. I thought it would be interesting to see how many I have and if I’m still interested in reading them. This might also help me decide whether or not I want to get rid of some books that I don’t want to read anymore.

So without any further ado, let’s get onto the unread books that I own on my bookshelves!

I don’t think that I have too many unread books on my shelves; I’m pretty good at buying books and reading them almost right away. Though I will say that I was getting books in the Book of the Month subscription every month, and there are still some books that I haven’t gotten around to reading yet. Other than those few, I really don’t think I have too many.

The first one I can think of is The Two Lives of Lydia Bird by Josie Silver. This is one that I got from Book of the Month, and I kept telling myself that I was going to read it during Valentine’s Day because I’m pretty sure that it’s a romance but it’s also apparently a heavy, heart wrenching book (at least that’s what I can tell from the reviews and synopsis on Goodreads). And I’m never really in the mood for that type of book, so I keep putting it off. And now it’s been over a year since I’ve had it, and I don’t know if I have any interest in picking it up.

The next one is also a book that I got from Book of the Month, and that is The Vanishing Half by Britt Bennett. And this is one that I still want to read at some point because it sounds really interesting. From what I can tell, it involves a lot of familial dynamics, which I’m all about. I don’t really know what’s keeping me from picking it up, but I really want to get to it soon.

I remember buying When No One is Watching by Alyssa Cole last year because I kept hearing really good things about it. I’m pretty sure it’s a mystery thriller, and I was seeing it a lot around Halloween. And I did try to pick it up at one point, but I don’t think I was in the mood for that type of book at the time. So I’m planning on reading it this coming October.

Another one that I own that I want to read in October is Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas. I’m pretty sure that I picked this book up after Halloween because I kept hearing good things about it, and I wanted to see what all the hype was all about. But now it’s just sitting on my bookshelf. Though I’m hoping to get to it in October because I feel like it would be a good Halloween read (I’m pretty sure it involves summoning ghosts or something like that).

I also have Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan on my shelves, but this is one that I mentioned on the Anti-TBR book tag that I did last week that I don’t have any interest in reading. I tried picking it up a few years ago, and I couldn’t get into it. I know now it’s become a movie, though I haven’t seen that either. I just don’t think I’m ever going to have the desire to read this book, so this is one that I’m probably going to unhaul at some point.

The only other books that I have unread on my bookshelves are the One Piece comics. I’m in the process of collecting them, and there are quite a few volumes in the series (I’m getting the bind-ups which have three volumes in each, but there are still almost 30 in all). I don’t have them all, maybe a quarter of that. And I have only read half of what I own. So there are probably four that I haven’t read yet that I own.

So there you have it. Those are all of the books that I own on my physical TBR. I’m sure I have more if I were to have included ebooks or audiobooks in this list, but maybe that’ll be a topic for another post.

Have you read any of the books that I mentioned? What were your thoughts on them? I’d love to chat about them in the comments below!
