Hello, book lovers! 💕
So I’ve been in a kind of meh reading mood lately. I don’t know why, but I haven’t really wanted to pick anything up.
But yesterday, I decided to start my reread of The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo. And being that it’s only a 4 hour audiobook, I should have finished it yesterday. But I didn’t. I kind of want to take my time with it. It’s my second time reading (or well, listening) it, and just hearing the poetry that creates the overall story is stunning and breathtaking. I forgot how beautiful Elizabeth Acevedo’s writing is in this book, and it’s her debut! Simply amazing.
The reason I decided to finally pick this up is because I recently finished Amanda Lovelace’s poetry collection, Break Your Glass Slippers, which I featured on a Goodreads Monday post this week. I knew I really wanted to get to that collection soon, and I’m so glad that I did. Though I wish that I had the physical copy because I wanted to tag a lot of the poems that I absolutely loved (which were pretty much all of them). I own a majority of her poetry collections, so I’ll definitely be picking this one up as a physical copy in the near future.
I’m not sure if I’m going to review this collection only because it was pretty short, and I’m not really good at explaining why I like a poem other than the fact that I like the imagery or something. I might wait to review it when I get the physical copy so I can include snippets of the poems in the review to show which ones were my favorites and why. Would that be something you guys would be interested in reading about? Let me know.
I I’m not sure what I’m in the mood to read once I finish The Poet X. It’ll probably be an audiobook if I’m being honest. I’m kind of thinking either The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater or The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett. Though that could completely change when I go to pick up my next read. I mean I do have an entire TBR to work from when I go to pick out another book to read, so who knows.
So there you have it. Those are the books that I am currently reading, recently read and plan on reading. Have you read any of these books I mentioned? Do you plan on reading any of them? I’d love to discuss them in the comments below!
