Hello, book lovers! 💕
As with most tags that I do, I wasn’t tagged to do this one. But I thought that it sounded fun and decided to do it. I haven’t done a tag in a while and figured it was about time that I did another one.
I originally saw this tag on Never Not Reading’s blog. I recently discovered their blog, but check out their original post here! Now I nto the tag!
How many books do you usually read at once?
I used to strictly only read one book at a time, and for the most part I still do. There have been times when I have read a couple books at a time. But never more than two. And they’re usually different formats. For instance I’d read a physical book and an audiobook at the same time. Or I’d read a fiction novel and a collection of poetry at the same time. But I typically can’t read more than one fiction novel at the same time. The stories tend to get mixed up in my head for some reason.
How do you decide when to switch between multiple reads?
It usually happens when I feel like I haven’t gotten a lot of reading done or don’t feel like picking up the physical book that I’m in the middle of. That’s when I decide to listen to an audiobook. I usually listen to the audiobook when I’m doing other things, like playing video games or drawing. And the physical book either gets finished when I finish the audiobook or I pick it up right before I go to bed.
Do you ever switch bookmarks partway through a book?
Not usually. I have so many bookmarks that I probably should in order to use them all but I tend to switch bookmarks with each book I read. So I’ll pick a different one after I finish reading a book.
What time of day do you read the most?
I read whenever I am in the mood to read. Which lately hasn’t been as often as I would have liked and part of the reason I listen to so many audiobooks. As much as I love reading physical books, I never am in the mood to just sit down and read a physical book. I feel like I need to be doing more than one thing at a time or I wasn’t being productive. Maybe that’s because I’m getting older because the same thing happens when I sit down to watch TV show too. It’s like my attention span is the size of a gnat now.
How long do you typically read in one session?
Another reason my attention span is the size of a gnat. If I’m reading a physical book, I usually read for an hour at a time. For some reason I can’t read any longer than that. Maybe it’s the fact that I have so many distractions around me. But unless I’m listening to an audiobook where I can listen for 2 or more hours, I can only read for an hour at a time.
Do you read hardcovers with the dust jacket off?
Always. The only time that I don’t take the dust jacket off is if I’m reading a library book and obviously couldn’t take it off. But if it’s my own copy, then I usually take it off while I’m reading and put it on my bookshelf until I’m done reading the book.
What position do you mainly use to read?
As I’ve said, I have the attention span of a gnat lately. I can’t sit still for that long while reading, so I’ll start off by sitting on my bed but halfway through my reading session, I’ll probably wind up laying on my stomach.
Do you take your current read with you everywhere you go?
If I know that I’ll be able to get some reading done wherever I’m going, then I’ll usually bring a book with me. For instance, my boyfriend likes to go skateboarding, so I’ll bring a book with me while we’re at the skate park.
How often do you update your Goodreads reading progress.
I have gotten into the habit of updating my Goodreads progress at every 50 or 100 pages or so. I always mark the book as read when I finish it. The only thing that I don’t do as regularly as I would like is reviewing books on there. But I review them on here so there really isn’t a point to review it twice. I probably should just post a link from my blog to my Goodreads if I review a book.
So there you have it. The Currently Reading Book Tag. Feel free to leave a link to your post if you did this tag as well! I’d love to check it out!
