Hello, book lovers! 💕

I’m not sure if this is something that I’m going to do every Monday, since I feel like that would get kind of boring and stale pretty quickly (at least for me). But I enjoyed this kind of post last week and figured I’d do it again this week.

Goodreads Monday is a weekly meme that was started by Lauren’s Page Turners. The meme is pretty easy to follow, to participate simply choose a random book from your TBR and explain why you want to read it! I originally saw this post on A Little Haze Book Blog, who is amazing and you should definitely check their blog out.

In choosing the book from my TBR, I used a random number generator in order to see which book I was going to talk about.

So with the number generator, the random TBR book that was selected was The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson. My first thought was Oh man it’s been a while. In that, I mean this is the second book in the Mistborn trilogy (I think it’s still a trilogy; it might just be a series now with more books). I read The Final Empire back in 2018, so if I were to pick this book up, I’d probably have to reread the first one just to refresh my memory.

And I think that’s why this is still on my TBR. The longer it gets from the time I initially read the first book, the more detached I come from wanting to read this book. That doesn’t mean I don’t want to eventually. I really enjoyed the first book and would love to see where the story goes. But considering the first book is over 600 pages, and it took me a while to get through, I’m kind of put off from reading it again.

The whole reason I picked up this series in the first place is because of BookTube (the book community on YouTube). Two or three years ago, it’s all anyone was talking about, at least in terms of high fantasy. So I bought the first book at the bookstore while I was away at college in 2016. I didn’t read it until two years later. Mainly because I’m always intimidated by high fantasy and big books. I know they take me a while to get through, and it’s discouraging for me to only be reading one book for a while month or longer (and I’m normally a slow reader to begin with).

But when I did pick the first book up, I really enjoyed it. But then I just never got around to reading the next books in the series (that I bought on BookOutlet because I thought I was going to read them back to back). And honestly I’m not sure why I still have this book on my TBR. I’m not sure when or if I’ll read it; I really don’t have much interest in it anymore.

I know what you’re thinking: I should just take it off my TBR then. And you’re probably right. But I feel like even though I don’t have much interest in this book right now, I might in the future. I could listen to the audiobook for it like I do with a lot of other large books and get through it pretty quickly. Which is what I’ll most likely do when I do decide to pick it up.
