Hello, book lovers! 💕
So I recently started The Moment of Truth by Kasie West, and I’m actually almost done with it. I probably would have had it finished by now, but I got distracted by some other things going on. But from what I’ve read, I’m enjoying it.
However, like the previous Kasie West book I read, this feels like it’s a little juvenile for me. But that’s probably because I’m no longer 16 years old like the main character of the story. While there are many lessons that the main character learns during the story – or at least so far from where I am in the story right now – some of the ways that she deals with them and reacts to them is kind of childish.
But I could be wrong; she could go through a lot of character development in the next 100 or so pages I have left. But honestly, while I have enjoyed Kasie West’s books in the past, I think I’m getting tired of them. They all kind fo feel the same to me. Not that that’s necessarily bad, but it’s getting kind of stale, at least for my tastes.
I think what’s keeping me reading is the mystery aspect of the story with the masked guy doing crazy things at the school events. I’m curious to see how that ends up turning out. But other than that, there’s nothing else that’s standing out to me as I’m reading.
I know it sounds like I’m bashing this book and that I’m not enjoying it. But that’s not the case. I am enjoying it. It’s a cute, fluffy YA contemporary that’s fast-paced and pretty fun to read. But with all the other books I’ve read, especially since I’ve been delving into adult contemporary more, it feels kind of meh to me in comparison. Not that it’s a bad book. Just something that I’ve outgrown recently.
I’ll most likely do a review of this book once I finish it, so be on the lookout for that. As for what I plan on reading next, I’m not sure. I have Six of Crows on my TBR, and it’s on my Kindle, so I might pick up that just as something different. Especially since I’ve been reading so many contemporary books lately. I think it might be time to pick up a fantasy.
So that’s what I’m currently reading. Have you read this book or books by this author? What do you think of them? What are you currently reading? I’d love to know in the comments below!
