Popular Books/Series I Haven’t Read Yet | Book Discussion

Hello, book lovers! 💕

I feel like this list could go on forever if I didn’t stop myself from adding 50 books to it. I searched the internet for books that I haven’t read yet, and I had to narrow it down to 6 books, or it would have been a mile long. Because apparently, I haven’t read a lot of different books and series yet. And some of them I may not read any time soon, or even at all.

But these are some books that I’ve seen around a lot and know a lot of people who I follow on social media have enjoyed, but I haven’t gotten to.

The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater

I know this is a beloved series on BookTube, and it’s one that I’ve been meaning to get to. But for some reason, I haven’t picked it up yet. I’m really not sure why. I think it might have something to do with what the book is about. I don’t know much, but from what I could tell, the first book, The Raven Boys, is about a girl name Blue Sargent who has been warned that she will cause her true love to die, which wouldn’t have been a problem before. But now her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys.

It wasn’t something I was initially interested in, but reading the synopsis now, I actually feel like I might want to pick it up in the near future.

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Again, this is a really loved series. The reason I haven’t picked it up is because it takes place after the Shadow and Bone trilogy. I’ve only read the first book in that trilogy, and honestly I don’t know if I’m going to want to get to the rest of it. But I’m not sure if I’m able to jump right into this next duology. If I am, I’d love to get to these books eventually.

From what I could tell, these particular books follow a heist and a large cast of characters. And it’s alternating points of views, and these unlikely characters team up together might be that might stand between the world and destruction—if they don’t kill each other first.

The Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan

I read the first book in this series back when I was in high school, and at that time, I wasn’t a big fan of mythology. So that put me off of reading the rest of the series, and really any of Rick Riordan’s other books, which all follow some kind of mythology, whether it’s Greek, Roman or Norse. Looking at them all now, I’d definitely be interested in picking some of them up in the near future. I might even read The Lightning Thief again and give it another chance because I know that there are books later on in the series that I’d probably be more interested in, but I haven’t gotten to because there would be like 5 books I’d have to get through.

I think that’s part of the reason I haven’t read these books. In order to get caught up, it’d take me so long, so I’ve just pushed them off. But I do want to get to them eventually.

A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket

This series is one that has been around for a long time, and it’s one that I know a lot of people have read growing up since it’s technically a children’s book series. And it’s one that I haven’t read yet, but really want to get to. I mean, the books are pretty short, so I should be able to get through them pretty quickly. I even have the first couple books, and I eventually want the whole series to have in my collection.

The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien

Again, this is a series that has been around for a long time, and it’s one that I don’t know if I’ll ever really get to. I mean, I own the books, but the versions I own are mass market paperback with tiny font and barely any line spacing. So it makes me kind of discouraged to read them. Then I tried watching the first movie, and that discouraged me even more because it was really long and it kind of bored me a bit.

So this is a series I probably won’t get to probably ever unfortunately. I just can’t see myself reading it, at least any time soon.

The Game of Thrones by George RR Martin

Just the length of these books in this series has me not wanting to read these. I don’t think I’d be able to invest that much time to read one of them being that the first book is over 800 pages. And yes, I have read books that length, but it has taken me at least a month to get through them. But these books only get longer as the series goes on. The last book that is currently out is over 1100 pages long. Um, no thank you. I think I’m going to pass on reading these.

Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen

This is a classic romance, and one that is loved by a lot people. I mean it’s a classic for a reason. And I own this book, and something has kept me from picking it up. I really don’t know why, but I just haven’t gotten around to reading this book. Or any of Jane Austen’s books honestly. Maybe one day I’ll get around to it, but I can’t see myself picking it up right now.

So there you have it. The 6 popular books/series that I haven’t gotten to yet and honestly some that I may not get any time soon.

But have you read any of these books? What are your thoughts on them? Or are there any popular books/series that you haven’t read yet? I’d love to discuss them in the comments below!

  1. I haven’t read the Shadow and Bone trilogy but I read Six of Crows anyway! You don’t need to read the Grisha trilogy before SoC, but you do before you read King of Scars.

  2. Pride and Prejudice is one of my all time favourites ❤ I love it even more because of the movies though! The Raven Boys is high up on my TBR and I hope to do a re-read of SoC before the show comes out 😂 I totally agree that long series are so hard to just pick up because there are so many to get through! Lol
