Hello, book lovers! 💕

I first saw this on Book Coffee Happy‘s blog. I guess this is going to be a monthly kind of thing that I do because I can’t seem to stick to doing it every week.

Again, thanks so much to Sam from Taking on a World of Words for hosting!

The three W’s are:

  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

I’m currently in the middle of reading Verity by Colleen Hoover. I picked it up on a whim, since I saw last week that she was having some of her books as free for Kindle. This was one of them. I figured since it was free at the time, I’d give it a try. I enjoyed many of Colleen Hoover’s previous books, so I was sure I’d enjoy this one. Though it’s a bit different that her other books. Definitely a lot darker. I think it’s classified as a romantic thriller, which is something I don’t usually pick up. But from what I’ve read so far, I’m really enjoying it.

It follows Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin. But she soon accepts a job offer of a lifetime from Jeremy Crawford, the husband of the bestselling author, Verity Crawford. The job entails completing the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife isn’t able to finish. But when Lowen starts digging through Verity’s office, she uncovers some interesting things about these people who she is working with.

I originally picked this up during the #perusereadathon this past weekend, but I didn’t get too far into it. The main reason for that is because my thoughts were consumed by the release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons for the Nintendo Switch. Though I should have gotten the whole book read considering I didn’t get my copy until Monday since there was a delay in shipping. But regardless, I plan on finishing this book sometime this week.

What Did i recently finish reading?

I recently finished reading, or well listening to, Of Curses and Kisses by Sandhya Menon. This one was a Beauty and the Beast retelling, and that’s really all I needed to know before going into it. Really, I didn’t need to know much because I enjoyed most of Sandhya Menon’s other books. So I figured I’d enjoy this one too.

And I did enjoy it; it just wasn’t my favorite of Sandhya Menon’s books. I did a review of it recently, where I talk more in depth about my thoughts. Overall, it was only a three star read for me. It didn’t really stand out to me, other than the diversity of the characters, which I really enjoyed.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I’m honestly not sure what I’m going to pick up next. I know I have books on my TBR for March that I ultimately want to get to. But I’m not sure what I’m in the mood to read. And it’s apparent that I can’t stick to my monthly TBR’s since I picked up Verity, which wasn’t originally on my list.

If I had to pick right now, I’m kind of feeling like listening to an audiobook (big shocker there). But that’s only because I know I’m going to be spending so much time playing Animal Crossing that I don’t see myself reading a physical book right now. Besides finishing Verity. So I do have Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on audiobook. Or Down Among Sticks and Bones by Seanan McGuire. Though being that the month of March is almost over, I might go with the shorter book since I haven’t really read that many books this month. But if I’m listening to them on audiobook, it wouldn’t take me that long to begin with.

But really, I’m not sure yet what I’m going to pick up, if I pick up anything at all. I’ll have to see how much of my time Animal Crossing takes up.

What are some books that you’ve read recently? I’d love to talk about them in the comments below!

  1. I think Verity is a whole different beast to what CoHo usually writes but I was living for that book! So intense and jaw-dropping and head turning. It pulled me right out of a slump 😂 Hope you continue to enjoy it!

    1. It really is different than what she usually writes and I hope so too! I’m kind of between that book and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (which I randomly picked up). I’m not good at reading multiple books at once.
