Hello, book lovers! 💕

I first saw this on Book Coffee Happy‘s blog. And since it’s been almost a month since the last one I did, I figured it was time to do another one. And again, thanks so much to Sam from Taking on a World of Words  for hosting!

The three W’s are:

  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

I’m currently reading The Upside of Falling by Alex Light. This is something that I picked up from my local library because I had originally saw it on an Instagram post from the publisher Epic Reads. The cover itself looked intriguing, and upon reading the summary, I instantly knew it was something that I would enjoy.

I’m almost halfway through it now, and I think that prediction was correct so far.

It follows a girl named Becca who had been single forever, but hasn’t believed in true love since her parents’ divorce. One day her former best friend was making fun of her for not having a boyfriend, so Becca said she did. As proof, Brett Wells walks up and pretends to be her fake boyfriend. Though he’s one of the most popular boys in the school, and Becca is, well, not popular at all. So of course there is drama and everything that comes along with trying to keep up this fake relationship.

It’s everything I love in a YA romance. It’s equal parts cheesy and heartwarming seeing these two character wade through the trial and tribulations that come along with being in a fake relationship. And I can’t wait to see how it ends, though I’m sure it’ll be in some kind of romance.

What did you recently finish reading?

I must be in some kind of YA contemporary mood because I recently finished Yes No Maybe So by Becky Albertalli and Aisha Saeed. Maybe it’s the fact that it feels like spring where I am and that puts me in the mood for some fluffy romance.

This book follows Jamie Goldberg who is volunteering for his local senate candidate, though he doesn’t do well with talking to strangers. And there is no way he’d ever knock on doors to ask for their votes. But that is until he meets Maya.

Maya Rehman’s having the worst Ramadan ever. Her best friend is too busy to hang out, her summer trip is canceled, and now her parents are separating. Why her mother thinks the solution to her problems is political canvassing—with some awkward dude she hardly knows—is beyond her.

Though while this book was fun and lighthearted, it also followed some pretty serious topics. I plan on doing a full review on this book in the next week or so, but know it’s definitely worth picking up.

what do you think youll read next?

Being that I recently checked out Of Curses and Kisses by Sandhya Menon from the library, I’ll probably pick that one up next before I have to return it. This one, from what I know, is a bit different than what I’ve been reading. It’s a contemporary spin on Beauty and the Beast. That’s all I really need to know in order to pick it up. I’m curious to see what Sandhya Menon does with that in the story.

So there you have it. What I’m currently reading, what I recently finished, and what I plan on picking up next. Have you read any of these books? What’d you think about them? Let me know in the comments below! I’d love to chat about them with you.

  1. I’ve had Yes No Maybe So on my current reads for weeks now. For some reason I can’t seem to get into it, although I know I’ll probably love it? So frustrating when that happens! I did start Of Curses and Kisses as well last week and I’ve been enjoying it, although I feel it’s starting out slowly. Totally intrigued by Grey’s moody vibe though. 😀

    Happy reading!

  2. I kept putting Yes No Maybe So off for a while before I picked it up, and part of the reason I listened to it on audiobook was because I wasn’t picking up the physical copy. I’m sure once you get into it more, you’ll enjoy it more, especially if it’s the type of book you like.

And I’m looking forward to getting to Of Curses and Kisses! Hopefully it’s just the beginning that’s kind of slow!
